I set the timer for 4-6 AM, put half a cup of steel cut oats and 2 cups of water in the crockpot and went to bed. There was just enough oatmeal for the kid and me, waiting, when we woke up.
He is going to school with a bowl of oatmeal in him.
2 cups was OK. I might prefer a titch less of water.
He uses butter and brown sugar, which was how I ate it when I was a kid. I had maple syrup, today.
